It is a challenging Thanksgiving for the legal industry.

Happy Thanksgiving Image

As we approach the end of the year and the holidays, I want to stay in touch and share my gratitude for our professional association. This year, I continued my commitment to improving client service delivery as I focused on ways for lawyers to be more effective in addressing their clients’ business opportunities and challenges. I learned that client care is about so much more than efficiency, as 2020 tested us to understand what really matters.

As we all faced changes and adjustments, I was also gratified to collaborate more extensively with others:

  • This month, with Tea Hoffmann, we launched LawStrategyCoach, a unique blended-learning platform for professional development on soft skills not taught anywhere else. We cover topics like business acumen, social styles, selling and crafting better messages to time management. Check out our high-value program and let us know if it is of interest to you or someone you know. We are creating formats for lawyers in law firms, inhouse, legal matter professionals and legal operations experts.
  • With Scott Rosenberg of Unbiased Consulting and others, we re-launched the CLOC LPM Committee. This high-energy group has grown to over 60 hard-working legal ops professionals and lawyers who are extending the value of the CLOC LPM framework worldwide. We are looking at the application of project management practices to advancing legal operations as well as managing matters. We are hoping to publish an e-book in the Spring.
  • Together with my colleagues, David and Karen Skinner of Gimbal Canada, and Ignaz Fusgen of smartvokat, we continued to work with the International Institute of Legal Project Management. This organization has expanded its reach to legal professionals from over 40 countries. I am excited to play a leadership role in developing a competency model that will serve as the basis for professional development programming and assessments to fill skills gaps in process improvement and project management capabilities.

Work with our clients continued to focus on strategy and professional development. We helped design new offerings and applied project management practices in these roll-outs.

All the best to you and yours in this joyous and challenging holiday season. I hope 2021 is a time of connection, health and progress for all. I hope to hear from you soon.
