Improving the Value of Legal Services

I have worked with lawyers in just about every substantive law practice area at law firms and practice groups of all sizes. I draw on my 20+ years of practicing law and as a consultant seeking to increase the effectiveness of the legal industry and drive outstanding economic results. As an active participant in legal industry standard-setting and peer organizations such as the ACC, CLOC, and the ABA, my goal is to bridge the chasm that often exists between clients and their external counsel about ways in which to optimize the value of legal services. I am chair of the CLOC Legal Project Management Committee. I create and share extensive resource materials, and speak at industry and continuing education programs to provide practical guidance on how lawyers and those supporting them can excel. I am the co-author of two books, Implementing Legal Project Management: The Legal Professional’s Guide to Success, and a guidebook on using Codes for Merger and Acquisition Transactions and Tracking Value. As a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management, I seek to inspire excellence and innovation in law practice management. 

I founded QLex Consulting Inc. in 2006 after serving as a partner in the legal management consulting practices at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Blaqwell Inc. I have also been affiliated with some of the leaders of the legal industry and continue to collaborate extensively. I began my career by practicing law in New York City. 

I am a graduate of Columbia Business School, and Cornell Law School, where I was managing editor of the Cornell Law Review. I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stony Brook University (NY). In my free time, I live the rural life in Kinderhook, NY, a historical agricultural community, having transplanted in 2008 after living most of my life in Manhattan.
